Picnic tables and umbrellas on the Donathan PavilionNational Park College was awarded a $7,500 grant from Weyerhaeuser this semester. The grant provided for an outdoor seating area project for campus.

The goal of the project was to safely expand campus life and socialization opportunities in a COVID-19 climate. This investment in students, faculty and staff through ADA compliant outdoor seating was a logical step that allowed for safe social distancing spaces.

Nicole Herndon, executive director of the NPC Foundation said, “We have been able to purchase picnic tables, umbrellas and benches in and around the Student Commons building, Ray and Willodene Donathan Pavilion, the campus quad and the south side of campus. The addition of these picnic tables and benches has allowed us to complete our project while safely improving campus life and social opportunities for the campus community. With the beautiful setting here on the NPC campus, many staff, faculty, and students are enjoying the fruits of this grant.”
