Nighthawks Softball Earns All-Regions Honors

Bailey Williams smiling with other playersFour members of the National Park College (NPC) Nighthawks softball team were named to the 2021 NJCAA Division II All-Region II team this week for their outstanding performance on the field this season.

Cecil led the Nighthawks with team highs in batting average (.434), hits (49), RBI (37) and doubles (14) this season, also serving as NPC’s career leader in each of those categories.

Thompson batted .390 while leading the Nighthawks in home runs (9) and runs scored (38) and finishing second on the team in hits (48) and RBI (36) this season. The freshman finished the regular season tied for first place in NPC career home runs (9) and runs scored (38).

 

Bruce batted .367 this season with 47 hits, 27 RBI and 24 stolen bases. The freshman finished the regular season tied for first place in NPC career triples (3).

"I am so proud of these four!" NPC head coach Jessie Taylor said. "They've put in the work this season and produced at the plate and on the field. It's awesome to see that other coaches in the region recognize that as well. Seeing four NPC selections the first year we've been able to vote for an All-Region team makes me extremely excited for the future of this program."Madeline Bruce in baseball action

"It is always exciting to see Nighthawks honored for their on-field performance," NPC athletic director Jason Hudnell said. "I'm especially proud of how hard these ladies work both on the field and in the classroom. It is a testament to their hard work and dedication to being a well-rounded student-athlete."

NPC faces Carl Albert State College in the NJCAA Region II Tournament in Pryor, OK on Friday, May 7th at 10:00 a.m.
