The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawks men's and women’s soccer teams fell to Eastern Oklahoma State College (Wilburton, OK) in NJCAA Region II action Thursday, with the women dropping a 3-0 decision and the men falling, 3-0.

In women's action, NPC (1-4) fell behind early due to two quick goals from the Mountaineers. Playing from behind, NPC struggled to advance into Eastern Oklahoma State College territory. Freshman Brooklyn Mize (Godley, TX) halted 15 shots during the period, but the Mountaineers managed to push a third goal through as time expired in the first half.

In the second half, NPC improved, defensively, but continued to struggle with movement and shot opportunities in Mountaineer territory. Mize saved multiple shots on goal during the period, but the Nighthawks were unable to turn the tide.

Mize converted 21 saves in the loss and continues to lead the NJCAA Region II with 71 saves this season.

After a first-minute goal from Eastern Oklahoma State College set the pace early in men's action, NPC (0-4) settled in, defensively, limiting the Mountaineers' opportunities in Nighthawk territory. Late in the first half, the Mountaineers squeaked in two more goals, with the team's final goal occurring just before the end of the first half.

Trailing, 3-0, at halftime, the Nighthawks continued to fight over the final 45 minutes, mustering two shots and saving five shots, but were unable to break through a tough Mountaineer defensive backfield to halt the shutout.

Freshman Xavier Marquez (El Paso, TX) secured seven saves in the loss.

The Nighthawk men and women play host to Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa Sunday at Hot Springs Baptist Church. The women kick off at 12 p.m. with the men following at 2 p.m.
