National Park College (NPC) Honors Program student, Sarah Rudder, has been selected
as a panelist for Build A Better You (BaBY).
BaBY is a prevention conference hosted by Ouachita Children, Youth, and Family Services
organized to educate attendees on the dangers of alcohol and drugs in both teens and
adults.
Rudder plans to complete a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design with an emphasis on
Management and Leadership through the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. She is
currently volunteering at Ouachita Children’s Center (OCC) and has agreed to be a
conference speaker as part of her NPC Honors Program internship.
“While my degree does not necessarily go hand in hand with my internship at OCC, I
enjoy volunteering there. I have been encouraged to use my artistic mind to help create
a more captivating and fun environment for the children,” said Rudder.
Dr. Christopher Thrasher, assistant professor of History and Honors program director
stated, "Sarah's internship with the Ouachita Center is a great example of the innovative,
community-centered, work that the Honors Program strives to promote. Everyone in the
Honors Program is very proud of Sarah and we are delighted to support her efforts."
