National Park College (NPC) Communication and Arts Division named Jamie Walsh as the
November student of the month.
Walsh is a music education major who hopes to transfer to Henderson State University
to further her education. She chose NPC because she wanted to stay close to home for
her first year of college. “It is more like a family than a college to me,” she expressed.
She noted that NPC is a community that gives the students a chance to shine and she
is grateful her work is noticed.
NPC music instructor and choral director Ferris Allen said, “Although Jamie's work
has been at a consistently high level since her arrival over a year ago, her progress
this fall has been just jaw-dropping. At every lesson, I am surprised to see that
yet again, she has gotten further in between meetings than I expected possible. I
think part of this is her ability to focus on surface-level, immediate performance
goals while also giving thoughtful attention to those obstacles that require patience
and tenacity. It is rare to have such a thoughtful student, and I am extremely grateful
for her hard work.”
“I am very grateful to NPC and my professors for everything they have done for me
over my time here. If I had to start my college career over again, I would choose
NPC all over again,” noted Walsh.
