National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk Athletics announced the next head women's basketball
coach this week.
Dominique Battles will serve as the Nighthawks’ third head women’s basketball coach.
A Gosnell native, Battles earned All-State honors on the high school level before
advancing to play college basketball at the NAIA and NJCAA levels. Battles coached
for eight years at Jonesboro High School, bringing home two state championships, and
most recently served as head coach of the junior high basketball program at Lakeside.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to join Nighthawk Nation,” Battles said. “After meeting
with the team, it’s easy to see that this program has a lot of potential for greatness.
Right now, we’re learning as much as we can about each other and laying the groundwork
for the system that we’re going to run. My goal is for each of our student-athletes
to be an asset to the team and I want to make sure that I give every player the best
chance to be great when they’re on the court.”
Battles succeeds Marvin Moody, who served as head coach for the past three seasons
before accepting the Director of the Better Chances program position this summer.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Battles to Nighthawk Nation,” NPC Athletic Director
Jason Hudnell said. “He brings a lot of energy and passion to the game that I’m sure
our young ladies are going to respond well to. It’s going to be a fun year to watch
our ladies in action.”
Battles lives in Hot Springs and serves as the Basketball Performance Skills Trainer
and a personal trainer at Hot Springs Health and Fitness.
