Evans Receives William And Carma Stroupe Scholarship
National Park College (NPC) student Claire Evans has received the William and Carma
Stroupe Scholarship. Evans is seeking an Associate of Science in Nursing to become
a registered nurse. She plans to transfer after graduation to obtain her bachelor’s
degree.
The William and Carma Stroupe scholarship is a memorial scholarship that requires
students to have a minimum GPA of 2.75, live in Garland County, be a first or second-year
student at NPC and enrolled in at least six credit hours. Preference is given to students
that intend to transfer to a four-year university.
“I hope to become a caring, compassionate nurse who helps individuals with anything
they may need,” said Evans. “I have had personal experience as the patient within
the health care field and discovered I want to be a great nurse who leaves an impact
on others’ lives.”
Steve Burns, the regional lead physical therapist for Hot Springs Sports Medicine
stated, “I feel that her [Evans] career choice is an excellent fit for both her personality
and drive for perfection. She will strive to deliver the best efforts for her patients
and employers.”
Lake Hamilton School District Virtual Academy Coordinator Lori Bush stated, “Claire
is a young woman of strong character who is respected by her teachers and peers. She
has an outstanding work ethic and will continue to be successful in any endeavor she
pursues.”
“I chose NPC because it was the best option for me. The college is close to home and
provides everything I need to be successful in my career path. The scholarship means
so much to me as it is a reward for hard work and aids me in my ability to achieve
my goals. I am so thankful to have received this scholarship,” Evans noted.
