Nighthawks Fall In NJCAA Tournament

The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawks baseball team ended its season with a loss in the NJCAA Region II Plains District Tournament on Wednesday, falling to No. 6 Western Oklahoma State College, 13-2.

After falling behind, 3-0, through the first three innings, NPC got on the board in the fourth inning on an RBI sacrifice fly from freshman Jesus Minjarez (Hot Springs). Western Oklahoma State College answered with an explosive five-run fifth inning to pad the lead. An RBI double from freshman Demias Jimerson (Malvern) gave NPC an additional run in the sixth inning, but the Nighthawks could not overcome the deficit, ending its season as one of the final four teams remaining in the tournament.

Freshman pitcher Gage Golden (Hot Springs) allowed three runs on seven hits over two and two-thirds innings in the start for NPC. The Nighthawks tallied five hits in the loss, with Jimerson finishing 2-for-2 at the plate.
