The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawks baseball team suffered its first loss in the NJCAA Region II Plains District Tournament on Monday, falling to Northern Oklahoma College-Enid (NOC-Enid), 8-0.
After taking a 1-0 lead in the third inning, NOC-Enid blew the game open in the fourth inning with a seven-run frame. Against stingy pitching from the Jets, NPC struggled to get on base throughout the contest, falling for the first time in the double-elimination tournament.
Sophomore pitcher Cole Rodriguez (Cypress, TX) surrendered six runs on seven hits over three and one-third innings. Freshman reliever Jackson Pope (Sherwood) threw two and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen. NPC mustered three hits on the day, with freshmen Jack Hackney (DeWitt), Jesus Minjarez (Hot Springs) and CJ Price (Little Rock) each collecting one hit in the loss.
NPC continues tournament play today at 10 a.m. versus Carl Albert State College.
The game will be streamed live by Bravado Wireless.
