Jarquin Receives Seiz Signs Scholarship
National Park College (NPC) student Alisia Jarquin has been awarded the Seiz Signs
scholarship. Jarquin is currently seeking an Associate of Applied Science degree in
digital and media arts.
The Seiz Signs scholarship is a merit-based scholarship available to second year graphic
design students. Jarquin plans to begin her career working for a corporation but hopes
to eventually open her own firm to offer opportunities for others in the same career
field.
Jarquin said she chose NPC because of the career guidance, student organizations,
affordability and because NPC is close to home. “NPC means to me that I can achieve
any obstacle that comes my way when it comes to accomplishing my college degree, even
during difficult times,” she said. “I can spend time with my family and still get
the education that I want.”
As a first-generation college student, Jarquin’s mother helps her pay for college.
She said this scholarship will allow some of the burden to be lifted. “I would like
to thank NPC and the scholarship donor for this blessing. I can continue finishing
my associate degree and be able to graduate in May 2022. My family is proud of what
my academic standing can achieve,” she added.
Digital and Media Arts faculty Jennifer Seward said, “Alisia is a wonderful design
student. She impressed me from day one with her ability to quickly grasp the new concepts
and technology being taught and interpret these into solid design work. She is a very
independent worker and an excellent problem solver. She is a wonderful representative
of the digital arts program.”
