Nighthawk Men Win Third Straight Game

NPC Basketball

The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawks men’s basketball team (9-3) defeated Redlands Community College in the Kettle on Saturday, 93-65.

In a game in which NPC never trailed, the Nighthawks went to work early in the first half behind strong performances from sophomores Sayvon Traylor (Atlanta, GA) and Kam Vick (Little Rock). With 7:13 remaining in the first half, NPC extended the lead to double digits and cruised to a comfortable 43-30 halftime lead.

In the second half, NPC frustrated the Cougars’ three-point shooters, defensively, forcing Redlands to settle for contested shots in the paint. Traylor and Vick kept their foot on the gas, offensively, while sophomore Jaylen O’Conner (Oklahoma City, OK) erupted for 11 second-half points en route to the team’s third-straight victory.

Traylor led the Nighthawks in scoring with 27 points. Vick and O’Conner added 20 and 11 points, respectively, in the win.

The Nighthawks will host the inaugural Nighthawk Holiday Classic in “The Kettle” at National Park College on December 17-18. The Nighthawks play host to Mineral Area College at 7 p.m. Friday and face Strength ‘N Motion at 4 p.m. Saturday. Each game will be streamed live on the Nighthawk Network.
