The National Park College (NPC) Singers hosted “It’s A Grand Night For Singing,” a cabaret style concert on Tuesday at NPC. The concert featured solos, duets and ensemble performances.

NPC music instructor and choral director Ferris Allen directed the concert while Lowella Cherry accompanied on the piano. The night featured multiple solo performances. Sarah Fitsimones sang “If I Loved You” from Carousel and “Silent Noon,” Terra Bruce with “Brush up Your Shakespeare” from Kiss Me, Kate, Gracie Collins with “Anyone Can Whistle” from Anyone Can Whistle and “L’heure Exquise,” Nicole Dixon sang “Taylor the Latte Boy,” “Times Like This” from Lucky Stiff and “Ah! Love, But A Day,” Jamie Walsh with Someone Else’s Story” from Chess and “Bester Juengling” from Der Shauspieldirektor, and Tyler Montgomery with “Being Alive” from Company.

For the duet performances Jamie Walsh and Nicole Dixon showcased “Who Will Love me as I am?” from Sideshow.

The ensemble cast of singers, including Terra Bruce, Gracie Collins, Nicole Dixon, Connor Jacoby, Joshua Swanson, Tyler Montgomery and Jamie Walsh, performed “It’s A Grand Night For Singing” from State Fair as well as “Time To Remember” from The Fantasticks.

“A program of ensemble and solo repertoire requires all singers to embrace a level of vulnerability that goes beyond regular choral performance. National Park students are a joy to teach because they are always willing to step out of their comfort zone and take on an audacious challenge,” stated Allen.
