Nighthawks Defeat Mustangs

National Park College Basketball

The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawks men’s basketball team (7-3) bounced back into the win column Monday, defeating Central Baptist College’s junior varsity team in The Kettle, 111-57.

After setting its offensive pace with a 12-0 run to start the game, NPC cruised behind its defense for most of the first half, limiting Central Baptist College to just three field goals in the paint. Led by a 16-point half from Jaylen O’Conner (Oklahoma City, OK), the Nighthawks took a 49-28 into the halftime break.

In the second half, the Nighthawks thrived behind 13- and 12-point efforts from Kylil Anderson (Fort Worth, TX) and Damarcus Johnson (Dallas, TX), respectively, while limiting the Mustangs to just 29 second-half points to soar to the team’s seventh win of the season.

Anderson led the Nighthawks in scoring with 19 points. O’Conner finished with a career-high 18 points, while Johnson, JoQuarius Valrie (Houston, TX), and Rodrique Massenat (Trenton, NJ) scored 14, 13 and 12 points, respectively. Notoris Nelson (Ashdown) finished with 11 points in the win.

The Nighthawks play host to Southeastern Illinois College in the Kettle Thursday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. The game will be live streamed on the Nighthawk Network.
