The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawks men’s basketball team (8-3) defeated Southern
University-Shreveport, 72-69, Monday.
After defeating the Jaguars by 28 points just two weeks prior, the Nighthawks struggled
to find their rhythm in the second round. Battling turnovers and missed shots, NPC
rode the hot hand of sophomore Sayvon Traylor (Atlanta, GA) to cling to a 37-35 advantage
after 20 minutes. In a back-and-forth second half, the Nighthawks outscored the Jaguars,
35-34, to survive with a one-possession victory.
Traylor led the Nighthawks in scoring with 20 points. Sophomores Kam Vick (Little
Rock) and Jaylen O’Conner (Oklahoma City, OK) added 12 and 11 points, respectively,
in the win.
The Nighthawks play host to Redlands Community College at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Kettle.
The game will be streamed live on the Nighthawk Network.
