Students Explore LaserShot Simulator

Students used a LaserShot simulator to respond in police training scenarios. “The goal was to empower students to use critical thinking to analyze and evaluate the facts concerning police use of force cases,” said Montgomery.

"In our government classes, we emphasize the principle that there are multiple perspectives on most controversial issues," said Thrasher. "By exposing students to highly qualified guest experts, like Professor Montgomery, we help students see issues from more than one point of view and encourage them to develop their own opinions on difficult topics. The LaserShot simulation exercise builds on our class lectures by exposing students to law enforcement training methods, providing students with unique insights both into law enforcement training and into the real-life scenarios first responders face in the line of duty."
