National Park College (NPC) student Jeffrey Estright was recently awarded The Robyn
Lynn Megahan Scholarship. He is completing degrees in Welding and Business Administration.
Estright is a single father of two young children who works full time and attends
classes. “I have had a few good jobs, but without the education, I couldn’t advance
any further and I need to for my children. I want to provide a great life and a college
education for my children,” he stated.
After being out of school for over 20 years, Estright was considering a fully online
college but realized he would be more successful with face-to-face classes.
Estright said he is impressed with everything that NPC is doing to offer four-year
degree programs. He wants to develop a technical skill but also wants to earn a four-year
degree. He realized that many of the classes for the welding degree would transfer
to a business administration degree. NPC was the logical choice as it is close to
home.
Estright loves the faculty and staff at NPC. "There is not one person here that doesn't
put the students first. They will bend over backward to help you," he said. After
graduation, he plans transfer to the University of Arkansas Little Rock (UALR) to
pursue his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Estright strives to continue being an example to his daughters and those around him.
"Every day I see my daughters look at me for inspiration. Thanks to this scholarship,
I can show them and many others what a college education means," he added.
