Honors Students Attend Pandemic Class
National Park College (NPC) Honors Program students participated in Pandemic, one
of the first college courses in the country to focus on the COVID-19 epidemic. The
course was offered by the University of Arkansas (UA) Honors College through the Honors
Arkansas organization. Honors Arkansas is a collaborative group dedicated to improving
the quality of honors education in the state. Students participated in interactive
online presentations with experts and leaders including physicians, biologists, economists,
historians, and Governor Asa Hutchinson.
NPC student Cory Morris participated in the event. “How many experts does it take
to get to the center of the COVID-19 pandemic? All of them, and UARK got them to give
us a breakdown of what to expect in the days and months ahead as we join together
to combat the spread of this deadly contagion,” stated Morris.
Asa Hutchinson said, “The students were sharp, with thoughtful questions and it was
really neat to be able to hear questions from honors students from multiple different
colleges around Arkansas. It was a great experience for me and I enjoyed the conversation
with them.”
Honors Arkansas plans to offer additional courses on a variety of topics. Anyone
