NPC Hosts Nursing And Health Sciences Honors Day
National Park College (NPC) hosted a Nursing and Health Sciences Honors Day Thursday.
More than $70,000 in scholarships were awarded to nursing and health sciences students.
A total of 117 scholarships were awarded to 105 students from community organizations
and private donors, many of whom are alumni of NPC programs.
This year the event added NPC’s allied health programs along with nursing and included
Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Medical Laboratory Technology, Health
Information Technology, and our Emergency Medical Services (EMT & Paramedic).
Janice Ivers, Dean of Nursing & Health Sciences said, “Today is not only about scholarship
and achievement. It’s about recognizing the struggles our students have gone through
and are going through, and our donors and their heart for our allied health providers.”
Ivers said she was pleased to look over the program and see so many graduates that
have chosen to give back to their profession in the form of scholarships. She hopes
that seeing other graduates and donors provide scholarships will inspire our current
students to give back once they graduate. Ivers said NPC’s outstanding faculty, administration
and clinical partners help support students, but donors play a very important role
by not only assisting the student financially but mentally as well. “I believe the
scholarship award gives students a vote of confidence and the encouragement they need
to persevere.”
