Five members of the National Park College Nighthawk men’s and women’s basketball teams
were named to the 2019 NJCAA Region II DII All-Region Team this week for their outstanding
performance on the court this season, capping a successful first year as members of
the NJCAA.
For the Nighthawk men, freshman Patrick Greene (Little Rock Mills) was named to the
All-Region First Team. Greene led the Nighthawks in scoring this season with 16.4
points per game, while shooting 45.1 percent from the floor, 39.5 percent from three-point
range and a team-leading 88.2 percent from the free throw line, which also ranked
sixth-best in the country. Sophomore Braylon Steen (Bryant) was named to the All-Region
Second Team. Steen amassed 11 points per game this season while leading the Nighthawks
in rebounding and steals with 9.3 rebounds per game and 1.5 steals per game, respectively.
Sophomores Bailey Womack (Fountain Lake) and Faith Bratton (Jessieville) each picked
up All-Region First Team honors this season for the Nighthawk women. Womack led the
Nighthawks in scoring this season with 16.4 points per game, while also leading the
team with 4.5 assists per game and 1.6 steals per game. Womack also boasted team-bests
with her 32.5 percent three-point percentage and her 77.1 percent free-throw percentage.
One of the Nighthawks' defensive leaders this season, Bratton averaged 7.3 rebounds
per game while also adding 13.3 points per game.
In his first year with the Nighthawks, National Park College coach Marvin Moody Sr.
earned All-Region Coach of the Year honors for his efforts with this year’s team.
