Nighthawk Women Fall Short At Rhema
The National Park College Nighthawk women’s basketball team suffered its seventh-consecutive loss Saturday, falling to Rhema Bible Training College on the road, 75-74.
Paced by big three-pointers by sophomores Hailee Crosby (Mountain Pine) and Bailey Womack (Fountain Lake) early, the Nighthawks (3-12) utilized aggressive rebounding and possession management to build a 21-12 first-quarter lead. In the second frame, sophomore Faith Bratton (Jessieville) came alive, providing 10 points to keep National Park College in front, 57-55, at the halftime break.
In the third quarter, cold shooting from the Nighthawks allowed the Lady Eagles to erase a double-digit deficit early. A late three-pointer from sophomore Laney Wallace (Malvern) allowed the Nighthawks to stay ahead, 57-55, entering the final act.
In the fourth quarter, Womack added seven points, including five from the free throw line. However, big three-point shooting from Rhema kept the game close within the final minutes. Trailing by one point with 4.8 seconds remaining, the Nighthawks’ half-court heave missed its mark, resulting in a one-point loss.
Crosby led the Nighthawks in scoring with 19 points, while Womack and Bratton added 16 and 10 points, respectively, in the loss.
National Park College returns to action Thursday at Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock. The Nighthawk women tip off at 5 p.m. with the Nighthawk men playing at 7 p.m. XZero Sports will stream the games live at www.xzerosports.com.
