The United Way of the Ouachitas presented a check in the amount of $5000 to National
Park College this week from the Oaklawn Wellness Fund. The fund was created to help
NPC students in need and will provide food, medical care, hygiene products, dental
services, as well as transportation in the form of bus passes and gas cards. “What
good is your tuition if you can’t get [to class]?” said Katie Gibson, Associate Director
of the United Way of the Ouachitas. “Just because you’ve graduated high school doesn’t
mean you don’t have needs.”
“We’re honored to have the Support of the United Way and the Oaklawn Wellness program,”
said NPC Foundation Executive Director Nicole Herndon. “Each year this fund impacts
so many of our students and provides the everyday necessities so many of us take for
granted. It is a privilege for us to administer the funds to our students and to help
them succeed with their education and goals.”
