National Park College welcomes Lynn Valetutti as the new Library director.
Valetutti received a Bachelor of Arts in History and Spanish from Ouachita Baptist
University in 2013 and a Master of Library Science from the University of Southern
Mississippi in 2015. She is an active member of the Arkansas Library Association (ALA)
as well as the ALA Office of Information Technology Policy.
Valetutti relocated to Arkansas in 2009 with her husband, Jim, leaving a twenty-year
career in health care administration to pursue a new career path.
“For years I worked in the operating room, I ran home health care companies and nursing
homes, and I decided to reinvent myself,” she said. “I wanted to have a career that
wasn’t so stressful, so I went back to college. You can always start a new career,
and I think that’s an important thing for students to know.”
After changing careers, Valetutti was the coordinator of instructional media at Ouachita
Baptist University for five years, the electronic resource and serials librarian at
the University of Arkansas in Monticello for two years, and served at the Arkansas
State Library as the manager of digital services for three years.
Valetutti is an avid reader but also loves gourmet cooking, especially homemade pasta
and sauces.
“I am so happy to be at NPC,” she said. “The culture of the staff and faculty are
so friendly and welcoming. The campus is simply beautiful and I am excited to a part
of the wonderful changes happening on campus. I am very fortunate to work with library
staff that are very knowledgeable, competent and eager to help students as well as
staff and faculty.”
