Student Awards Ceremony

National Park College’s (NPC) Honors Program hosted a student awards ceremony last week.

Several awards were given for academic excellence. Breana Zuetlau was awarded the Hospitality Rock Star award for being a leader in the making. The welding department recognized Zuetlau’s husband, Cristapher, for his Outstanding Achievement in Welding. Marine repair honored Colton Coffman for his Outstanding Achievement in Marine Repair Technology and again for his excellence in work ethic. From the business division, Bonnie McWilliams received the award for Accounting Achievement and Monica Tedford won the True Grit Monica Tedford, recipient of the True Grit Achievement from the Accounting Department.Achievement. The Communications and Arts program recognized Allyson Marx, the student winner of the 2019 poetry contest. Lastly, for academic programs, the Social Sciences division honored Abby Hanks, Cade Lucio and Kyle Anderson for having the Most Creative psychology research poster and Jason Altamirano, Megan Walker, Madison Bellomy, DeonDre Charles and Elizabeth Alba for having the Most Informative poster.

Student organizations, the Honors Program, TRIO and the Leadership Academy also highlighted students. From the Leadership Academy, Alan Robinette received the award for Outstanding Performance in an Educational Film. Student Support Services, TRIO, recognized Ebony Jackson as the 2019 TRIO Hall of Fame Student. Cheyenne Cloud was awarded the Outstanding Volunteer and Founding Maker and Kim Arcega received the Outstanding Maker award for their work in the Innovative Technology Center. For their work on their capstone project for the Honors Program, Lyndsey Shuckers and Tyler Draper won the Outstanding Capstone Project Award.

Phi Theta Kappa recognized the 2018-2019 officers and members for their accomplishments with regional and international awards. Sarah Duran, Cory Morris, Melissa Krafft, Karl Lowry, Ashley Willet and Ricky Malliard were recognized for their 2018 Oaklawn scholarships. Also recognized for scholarships were Karl Lowry for PTK New Century Workforce Pathway Scholarship and the ATU PTK Transfer Scholarship, Ricky Malliard for the PTK New Century Workforce Pathway Scholarship, and Cory Morris for the Coca-Cola Military Leaders of Promise Scholarship. Melissa Krafft was recognized again for her achievement of acceptance into Savannah College of Art and Design and the scholarships that were received, particularly her Academic Honors Scholarship, a PTK transfer scholarship, which is worth $2,500 per quarter.
