Overbey obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Ouachita Baptist University and taught as a band director for two and a half years before deciding to go back to school. She completed her Associate of Science in Nursing from National Park College in 2014 and pursued a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Arkansas Tech University in 2016. She will complete her Master of Science in Nursing with an administration and education focus from Henderson State University in May 2020.

While pursuing her bachelor’s degree, Overbey began working in the intensive care unit at CHI St. Vincent. She also worked as an RN at the Baptist Health Medical Center emergency room in 2015 before going back to work at CHI St. Vincent in 2016 as an RN in the surgical intensive care unit.

Overbey enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and four-year-old daughter, dirt track racing, and deer hunting.

“When I was looking for a place to complete my degree, National Park College gave me the best opportunity,” said Overbey. “It became my second home while I was here.”

“When I closed my band hall doors in 2011 and thought I would never teach again, I didn’t realize how much I would miss teaching,” she said. “I’m looking forward to spending time with my students and to watch them grow and learn as nurses so they can provide the care that I have had the opportunity to provide since I got my degree from NPC.”
