National Park College (NPC) announced Nicolas Reiter as December’s student of the
month. Reiter was raised in Garland County and received his high school diploma from
Hot Springs World Class High School in 2018. Computers were always an interest to
Reiter. He said he has had a love for learning how computers work since he was very
young. He chose networking and cybersecurity as the career path he wanted to pursue.
As a Networking and Cybersecurity student, Reiter’s mission is to ensure that the
networking infrastructures are setup and safeguarded, guaranteeing that business processes
stay up and running. He shared that one of his favorite parts of being a student at
NPC is helping his fellow students. “He finishes early and stays behind to help others,”
instructor Robert Feighl noted.
Reiter explained that sometimes processes seemed more difficult to him than they
had to be, and he enjoyed being able to figure them out and assist fellow students.
“It kind of makes me feel good knowing that I’ve helped others,” he noted. His long-term
goal is to be a network administrator or network engineer.
Reiter is expected to complete his associate degree in Computer Networking in May
2020. By graduation, he will have completed eleven courses with Mr. Feighl. “Nicolas
is by far the best student I have had in the past 10 years. He is always prepared,
way ahead with homework assignments, nearly perfect test scores. In class, quiet and
respectful and always able to complete hands on lab work despite any obstacles.”
