NPC Hosts Veterans Day Event

Military Service Scholarship recipient, Laura Harper, pictured with Nathan Looper, Veterans Affairs Coordinator at NPC.National Park College (NPC) Veterans Center hosted a Veterans Day event Monday in the atrium of the Frederick M. Dierks Center for Nursing and Health Sciences.

Exhibitors were available to share services offered for veterans and their families. Guest speaker Tammy Hicks, Arkansas State Ambassador for Mission 22 shared her personal experiences with the crowd. Hicks spoke about how suicide impacted her family and the important role Mission 22 has in providing support to veterans and their families.

Veterans Affairs Coordinator, Nathan Looper presented the Military Service Scholarship to Laura Harper. The $1,800 scholarship was provided by Bob and June Luciew of Hot Springs Village. The Luciews are committed to helping students who have served in the armed forces complete their education. Mr. Luciew served in the U.S. Navy and Mrs. Luciew had a career as a registered nurse. They established an endowment in 2014 after attending an NPC graduation ceremony where they witnessed a large number of veteran students stand and be recognized.
