Nursing Honors Day Awards Over $60k in Scholarships
National Park College Nursing Division hosted the annual Nursing Honors Day event
Thursday, awarding more than $60,000 in scholarships to nursing students. A total
of 56 scholarships were awarded to 83 students from community organizations and private
donors, many of whom are alumni of NPC Nursing programs.
Janice Ivers, Dean of Nursing said, “Today is not only about scholarship and achievement.
It’s about recognizing the struggles our students have gone through and are going
through and our donors and their heart for nursing.”
Ivers said she was pleased to look over the program and see so many nursing graduates
that have chosen to give back to the profession in the form of scholarships. “It’s
an interesting phenomenon, really, to see so many people that know each other, that
come back to this very place, though it has changed over the years, to give back,”
she said.

The Lee and Brenda Richardson Endowment Fund was inspired by the care both donors
received from NPC nursing graduates during their hospital stays. They established
the endowment through the NPC Foundation this year.
