National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk Men’s Basketball team defeated Central Baptist College Mustangs Monday at Conway. The two teams battled through a competitive first half that ended with the Nighthawks leading 32-31. The Nighthawks gained momentum in the second half, pulling away with a final score of 82-72.
This makes the fourth victory in a row for the Nighthawks, led by Coach Jason Hudnell. Hudnell said, “I’m proud of the quality and character these men bring to this team and to our campus. As a new program, it has taken some time for everyone to find their role. We place a huge emphasis on playing as a team and working together and tonight I saw it in action. It makes me really proud.”
Leading scorer for NPC was Braylon Steen (24) of Bryant with 25 points, 11 rebounds, and one assist. Lowell Washington (12) of Bryant scored 16 points, six rebounds, and one assist. Clyde Ricks (4) of Hope landed 11 points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal.
The Nighthawk play Crowley’s Ridge College tonight at Paragould at 7 p.m. The men and women’s teams play North Arkansas College February 2 in Harrison at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
