The National Park College Nighthawk women opened the 2018-2019 season with two road losses at the Lady Pioneer Classic at North Arkansas College in Harrison.

In a 71-64 loss to Crowder College on Friday, Faith Bratton (Jessieville) led the Nighthawks (0-2) with 22 points, including 17 second-half points. Sophomore Kayla Sims (Fountain Lake) and freshman Logan Keener (Lake Hamilton) added 11 and nine points, respectively.

The Nighthawks fell, 92-70, to NorthArk on Saturday. National Park College overcame an 18-point first-half deficit to trail, 40-39, at halftime. A late surge by the Lady Pioneers, however, proved too much for the Nighthawks to overcome. Hailee Crosby (Mountain Pine), Bratton and Summer Godwin (Mountain Pine) led the Nighthawks with 16 points apiece in the loss.

The Nighthawk women return to action this weekend at the Lady Greyhound Classic, hosted by ASU Mid-South in West Memphis. National Park College faces ASU Mid-South Friday at 7 p.m. and plays NorthArk Saturday at 12 p.m. XZero Sports will stream Saturday’s game live at www.xzerosports.com.

The Nighthawk men open their season Monday, Nov. 5 at home against University of Arkansas Cossatot at 7 p.m.
