The National Park Nighthawk men’s basketball team kept its undefeated season alive
Saturday, downing Rhodes College’s junior varsity team for the second time this year,
89-59, at “The Kettle” in Hot Springs.
Rallying behind 17 first-half points from freshman Patrick Greene (Little Rock Mills),
the Nighthawks (7-0) went toe-to-toe with the Lynx in a low-scoring defensive struggle
during the game’s first 12 minutes before surging to a 9-0 run that helped pace National
Park College to a 42-27 halftime lead.
In the second half, the Nighthawks smothered the Lynx, defensively, allowing just
two baskets in the paint and leaning heavily on its top-ranked rebounding margin en
route to the team’s second-consecutive 30-point victory.
Greene finished with 27 points, including five three-pointers, in the win. Freshmen
David Jagers (Mayflower) and Jaren Richards (E-Stem) scored 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Defensively, sophomore Braylon Steen (Bryant) added 10 rebounds with six points.
National Park College travels to University of Arkansas Cossatot today. XZero Sports
