Nighthawk Men Sweep Pioneer Classic

The National Park College Nighthawk men’s basketball team remained undefeated after picking up two wins over the weekend in the Pioneer Classic, hosted by North Arkansas College.

On Friday, a strong defensive presence and a hot start, offensively, from freshman David Jagers (Mayflower) guided the Nighthawks (4-0) to a 92-54 win over Central Baptist College’s junior varsity squad. Jagers finished with 15 points in the win, while freshman Patrick Greene (Little Rock Mills) and sophomore KJ Corder (Hot Springs) added 11 points each.

After trailing for the majority of the first half in Saturday’s rivalry game against Champion Christian College, the Nighthawks rallied behind a 16-point effort from Greene, including four three-pointers, to take a 50-37 lead into halftime. In the second half, a 10-point effort from Corder fueled National Park College to its fourth-consecutive win, 101-85.

Greene led the Nighthawks with 21 points. Jagers and Corder scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, while sophomore Braylon Steen (Bryant) added 14 and sophomore Seth Duke (Gravette) added 13 points in the win.

The Nighthawk men will face East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas on Monday, November 26. XZero Sports will stream the game live at www.xzerosports.com.

The Nighthawk women return to action Saturday, December 8 at Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
