Nighthawk Women Split In Lady Greyhound Classic

The National Park College Nighthawk women’s basketball team picked up its first win of the season over the weekend, edging ASU Mid-South, 83-73, Friday at the Lady Greyhound Classic, hosted by ASU Mid-South in West Memphis.

The Nighthawks (1-3) enjoyed a hot start from sophomore Hailee Crosby (Mountain Pine), who scored 11 of the team’s 19 first-quarter points. Sophomore Faith Bratton (Jessieville) stepped up in the second quarter, adding 13 points, including five-of-five free throws.

Leading 42-38 at halftime, National Park College enjoyed an 11-point third quarter effort from sophomore Bailey Womack (Fountain Lake), including three treys to pace the Nighthawks toward victory.

Bratton led the Nighthawks in scoring with 25 points. Crosby scored 19 points and Womack added 18 points, including four three-pointers, in the win.

Riding its momentum into Saturday’s game against No. 8 North Arkansas College, the Nighthawks turned up their defense against the Lady Pioneers, allowing just 27 first-half points and trailing by only six points at halftime. National Park College would fall behind in the third quarter, however, allowing 23 points to North Arkansas and falling by a final score of 67-54.

Crosby led the Nighthawks with 14 points in the loss with Bratton and sophomore Kayla Sims (Fountain Lake) adding 8 points each.

The Nighthawk women return to action Saturday, December 8 at Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
