NPC Announces Changes To Scholarships For Fall 2018

National Park College (NPC) announced changes to scholarships that are available for the fall 2018 semester. The College introduced a new Nighthawk Leadership Scholarship, and revised Academic Achievement and President’s Scholarships.

The Nighthawk Leadership Scholarship is awarded to students that exhibit leadership and service to their campus and community. In order to receive the Nighthawk Leadership Scholarship students must be awarded a qualifying position by completing the appropriate selection process. The Nighthawk Leadership Scholarship is available for student government, ambassadors, cheer, pep band, and athletics team members. To maintain eligibility, students must have a cumulative 2.0 GPA and be enrolled in at least 12 hours each term. Award amounts vary depending on position and availability funds.

The Academic Achievement Scholarship is available to students with the potential to excel in college. It covers the full cost of tuition for two semesters. Applicants must have a cumulative 2.75 GPA, a 19 or higher on the ACT, and must enroll within one year of graduation from high school. To maintain eligibility, students must have a cumulative 2.75 GPA and be enrolled in at least 12 hours each term. Students may receive the scholarship one additional year if funding is available and they maintain the required GPA and full time enrollment.

The President’s Scholarship is available to students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance. It covers full tuition and fees and is renewable for up to four semesters. Applicants must meet at least two of the following criteria to receive scholarship: 3.0 cumulative high school GPA, 22 or higher on the ACT, and/or rank in the top 25 percent of their graduating class. To maintain eligibility, students must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA and be enrolled in at least 12 hours each term.

Dean of Enrollment, Jason Hudnell said, “Our goal is to make college more accessible to more students. Everyone deserves an opportunity to find their path. We recognize that academic achievement can be defined by more than just a test score. You can afford it and you can’t afford to wait.”

The College awards nearly $8 million in grants and scholarships each year. Almost 70 percent of NPC students receive some type of financial aid. Students are encouraged to apply before the April 1 priority deadline. Scholarship applications for the fall 2018 semester are now open. Applications are available online at www.np.edu/scholarships.
