National Park College (NPC) hosted a reception for student athletes before this month’s
regular Board of Trustees meeting October 24.
Dean of Enrollment, Jason Hudnell introduced student athletes for the men and women’s
basketball teams and the cheer team. The 2018-2019 season will be the College’s first
year participating in the National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA). NPC
teams will compete in NJCAA Division 2, Region 2 along with Arkansas State University
Mid-South, North Arkansas College, and Southern Arkansas University Tech.
In total, 30 student athletes are participating in the basketball program and 14 are
on the cheer team. Student athletes are from 19 high schools across the state, including
Little Rock Mills, Malvern, Hot Springs, Bryant, Gravette, Mountain Pine, Manila,
Jessieville, Perryville, Mayflower, Hope, Pine Bluff, Arkadelphia, Faith Prep, E-Stem,
Poyen, Fountain Lake, West Fork and Lake Hamilton.
The Nighthawks women’s team is scheduled to play 21 games this year beginning with
the Pioneer Classic at North Arkansas College November 2-3. The women will face Crowder
College November 2 at 5:30 p.m. Sophomore Night for the women’s team will be held
February 6.
The Nighthawk men’s team is scheduled to play 26 games this season, 14 of which are
home games. They will open the season November 5 at home against Cossatot Community
College at 7 p.m. Sophomore night for the men’s team will be held February 26.
Homecoming is scheduled for February 18. The men and women’s teams will play Champion
College at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Team rosters and a complete season schedule for each
