Participating employers included Triumph Airborne Structures, Triumph Precision Components, Cobalt Aero Services, CMT Inc., and Airtech Supply Inc. Aerospace employers had an opportunity to visit with students from NPC and high school students from local school districts.

Vice President for Workforce and Strategic Initiatives, Kelli Albrecht said, “We hosted this event to help employers develop a pipeline from the high schools to the industry. One of the challenges they have had is getting younger workers to be aware that these industries are here and that there are great opportunities available right out of high school or with training here at NPC. I think every single company here is hiring right now.”

Tracey White from Cobalt Aero Services said, “This has been a great experience today. We have hired some people from the classes here at NPC. We have one guy who has been there for about four years and he is one of our top mechanics.”

White explained that it is often more economical to bring the mechanics to the parts rather than shipping parts to the mechanics location. Many of their mechanics travel to all areas of the globe including the Netherlands, Japan, France, and Yemen.

Coursework for the Aerospace Manufacturing and Repair program can be completed in less than a year. Classes begin September 2018. Information about the program is available at www.np.edu/aerospace.
