Kevin Wille was selected as the December Student of the Month. He moved from Dallas
last fall and first chose National Park College (NPC) to pursue a degree in funeral
science. He joined choir and said Dr. Ferris Allen encouraged him to take private
voice lessons and get back into competitive singing.
In February 2018, he won first place at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) state conference. “This is a huge affirmation that I am where I am supposed
to be. I want to do something that is fun that I love doing, that is not going to
seem like work every day,” Wille stated.
This fall he placed second in his category at the Southern Region NATS competition,
where he competed with students across the southern region. “This is a tremendous
accomplishment for a student in his second semester of NPC voice study,” Allen added.
Faculty member Leslie Braniger describes Willes as intelligent and inquisitive and
as someone who keeps class lively and encourages deeper student conversation. She
goes on to state that “he is thoughtful and compassionate in his demeanor with other
students, and he displays exemplary professional behavior with faculty.”
