The National Park College Nighthawk men’s basketball team stayed undefeated Monday, cruising past Rhodes College’s junior varsity squad on the road, 103-80.

In a physical first half, freshman Patrick Greene (Little Rock Mills) paced the Nighthawks (2-0) early with 18 first-half points, including 11 free throws. However, clutch free throws and three-point shooting from the Lynx (0-3) kept Rhodes College within reach.

Leading 49-42 at halftime, the Nighthawks enjoyed a scoring surge from sophomore Seth Duke (Gravette), who contributed 14 second-half points. In the second half, National Park College dominated from the free throw line, outscoring Rhodes College, 18-1, en route to the Nighthawks’ 23-point victory.

Greene led all scorers with 23 points in the win. Duke finished with 18 points, while freshmen David Jagers (Mayflower) and Harris “DJ” Martin (Pine Bluff) added 13 and 10, respectively.

National Park College will compete in the Pioneer Classic, hosted by North Arkansas College in Harrison this weekend. The Nighthawk men will face off against Central Baptist College at 5:00 p.m. Friday and against Champion Christian College at 12:00 p.m. Saturday. XZero Sports will stream Saturday’s game live at www.xzerosports.com.

The Nighthawk women return to action Saturday, December 8 at Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
