Yamaha Motor Corporation donated a brand-new 65 horse power jet drive motor to the National Park College (NPC) marine program this month, creating a gift in-kind total of $110,319.20 to the program in one year. The donation makes the fourth new engine the vendor has donated to the program, with a retail value of $13,475.

Marine instructor, Delmar Hunter plans to use the opportunity to teach new students how to properly unbox an engine. He plans to use the equipment to teach two-stroke and four-stroke theory, electrical systems, and jet drives. “It is a new engine, and likely something they will see upon graduation in the field,” said Hunter. “It is an asset to our students when we can work on new engines. It creates an advantage for them beyond the classroom,” he added.

Hunter said the donation came about because he keeps in touch with the vendor, constantly asking for anything they have to offer. “Yamaha is a superb partner with NPC. They are constantly seeking ways to assist this program. This donation is typical of their generosity toward the NPC marine program,” Hunter noted. In total, Yamaha has donated four new engines, two used engines, eight lower units, four powerheads, numerous propellers and a spare jet drive since last August.
