ORGANIZATIONS PARTNER TO HOST SAFETALK SUICIDE TRAINING
Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) and the Garland County Suicide Prevention Coalition (GCSPC) will host safeTALK suicide training Friday, February 10 from 8 a.m. to noon in the Frederick Dierks Center for Nursing and Health Sciences, room 119.
LivingWorks’ safeTALK training is open to anyone over the age of 15 and requires no prior experience. The half day alertness training prepares attendees to become a suicide-alert helper, recognize pleas for help and take action by connecting to life-saving intervention resources.
The training will feature presentations and guidance from a LivingWorks registered trainer, local community resources, and hands-on skills practice and development.
The training is free and open to the public. Registration is required and can be completed at https://garlandcountysuicidepreventioncoalition.com/.
About GCSPC
The Garland County Suicide Prevention Coalition is a local volunteer organization aimed at proactively reducing suicides within our community. GCSPC was established in August 2014, when Project H.O.P.E (Health, Opportunities, People and Education) tasked a subcommittee to address the community problem after high county suicide data was brought to the groups attention. GCSPC is one of a handful of communities across the state actively working toward lowering the rate of suicide.
