National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk Basketball teams opened the season against the Crowley’s Ridge College Pioneers Monday night in a packed gymnasium. Both the Men and Women’s teams pulled out a victory.
The women’s team played at 5 p.m. Kayla Sims was the leading scorer with 20 points, followed by 16 points each for Faith Bratton and Bailey Womack.
The men’s team played at 7 p.m. KJ Corder was the leading scorer with 24 points, followed by Jarvis Ricks with 20 points and Braylon Steen with 14 points. Pictured is Corder going in for a score.
The men’s team played in the ASU Mid-South Greyhound Classic over the weekend. Friday
evening the Nighthawks faced the reigning NJCAA Region 2 Champions ASU Mid-South Greyhounds.
Steen scored a game leading 22 points and Seth Duke had four assists. In the end,
the Greyhounds won 108 to 83.
The Nighthawks were matched against the North Arkansas College Pioneers Saturday.
Steen scored a game leading 36 points. The final score was 100-112 for the Pioneers.
Head coach and Dean of Enrollment, Jason Hudnell said, “I was really proud of all
our student athletes. The cheer squad, the women’s team, the men’s team, all three
teams represented NPC and our community very well. They were excited to play in front
a packed house. I cannot thank the community enough for the support they have shown
these young men and women.”
Next up the Nighthawk men’s team will face Williams Baptist College at NPC Saturday,
November 11 at 3 p.m. Veterans will receive free admission with proof of service.
