National Park College (NPC) Singers presented “Midwinter,” for their holiday choral concert Tuesday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

National Park College (NPC) Singers presented “Midwinter,” for their holiday choral concert Tuesday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

The program featured selections from a variety of sacred and secular choral masterworks of composers such as Gabriel Faurè, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Charles Villiers Stanford, as well as traditional carols and modern reflections on winter from nontraditional composers such as singer-songwriter Joni Mitchel.

NPC Singers include sopranos Kaitlyn Davis, La’Sonia Holliman, Hope Windle and Ruth Suarez; mezzo-sopranos Daberath Garcia and Jenna Hamilton; baritones Ethen Lingo and Gerald Thomas; tenor Allan Robinette; and bass Sean Smith and Zachary Sherrill.

The concert was conducted by Dr. Ferris Allen. Pianist, Lowella Cherry provided accompaniment for each of the selections, including, Cantique de Jean Racine, Op. 11 by Gabriel Faure; Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence by Gustav Holst; The Holly and the Ivy arranged by Russell Robinson, Christmas Sanctus by Susan and Lee Dengler featuring soprano La’Sonia Holliman; In the Bleak Midwinter by Holst featuring mezzo-soprano Jenna Hamilton; O How Amiable by Vaughan Williams, River by Joni Mitchell featuring mezzo-soprano Daberath Garcia; and Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in G, Op. 81 by C. V. Stanford featuring soprano Hope Windle and baritone Ethen Lingo.
