NPC Hosts Mental Health Awareness Event

National Park College (NPC) will host the Just A Minute: PSA Showcase in partnership with Suicide Prevention Allies (SPA) and CHI St. Vincent May 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Frederick M. Dierks Center for Nursing and Health Sciences.

May is mental health awareness month. This event will highlight public service announcement videos from the community that tackle bullying, suicide prevention and peer building. Area organizations will be available to discuss resources and tools available for those struggling with mental health issues.

Changing Minds combines a traditional keynote with storytelling, group discussion, and improvisation theatre—teaching the tools people need to address their own mental health and showing the crucial steps to help oneself or a peer, colleague, or loved one in crisis.

The presentation is sponsored by the Matthew Silverman Memorial Foundation (MSMF), a nonprofit public charity dedicated to raising awareness with the goals of preventing suicide and saving lives. They provide financial and programmatic support as well as mental health programs for teens and young adults throughout the country.

The event is free and open to the public.
