Dr. Ferris Allen, Choral Instructor was invited to Harding University last week as a guest lecturer. He spent the day offering five individual voice lessons and one public masterclass.
"The Harding voice faculty were particularly welcoming to me when I came to Arkansas, almost six years ago. I've learned a lot from them, so I felt very honored to be invited to work with their talented students," said Allen.
Throughout the day, Allen helped the students interpret opera and art song by Elgar, Gounod, Mozart, Menotti, Schubert, and Richard Strauss. Each session focused not just on vocal technique and physically efficient singing, but how such singing can empower students to confidently handle the artistic challenges presented by their repertoire.
