NPTC LAUNCHES NEW MOBILE APPS PROGRAM
Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park Technology Center (NPTC) will launch a new Mobile Application Development (MAD) program for high school juniors and seniors this fall. The program was approved by the Arkansas Department of Career Education last spring and will include courses in mobile application design and development for both Android and iOS, syntax, algorithms and the use of APIs.
MAD coursework is entirely project based and team oriented with strong focus on internships and collaboration with business and industry partners.
’NPTC MAD instructor, Brad Bassett said, "In the current environment, the true language
of all business is computer code. The skill of coding is applicable in almost every
field of study or career, as well as useful in modern day to day life. With nearly
every person carrying a personal cellphone, the possibilities of what can be done
using coding, with a focus on mobile devices, is immeasurable."
The Arkansas School for Math, Science and the Arts (ASMSA) hosted a Mobile Applications
In-Service training for instructors in June and July. Bassett attended the training,
which was facilitated by ASMSA Computer Science Education Specialist, Daniel Moix.
