NEWMAN ESTABLISHES ENDOWMENT FOR NURSING STUDENTS
Hot Springs, Arkansas – The National Park College (NPC) Foundation received a $15,000 endowment for the Garry G. Newman Pay it Forward Nursing Scholarship Fund last month.
Newman is retired from the United States Marine Corps. He said, “I have had a full and eventful life, with many occupations and extensive world travel. I wish to lend a helping hand to others so they may also prosper.”
The scholarship will be awarded in the fall of 2017 to a graduate of Fountain Lake
High School entering the registered nursing or licensed practical nursing program
at NPC. The recipient must have completed the Medical Professions/Health Sciences
program through the National Park Technology Center.
The scholarship will be awarded based on both merit and need, requiring a 2.5 minimum
GPA. Preference will be given to students who do not receive other financial aid.
Upon the completion of the RN or LPN program, the students are requested to “pay it
forward” by donating back into the fund in order to sustain it for future students.
Endowments like the Garry G. Newman Pay it Forward Nursing Scholarship Fund have been
created through the generous donations of partners, community leaders, businesses
and organizations in the Hot Springs community. If you would like to donate to an
established fund or create a scholarship to honor the memory of a loved one, please
contact Sara Brown, Director of Development, at (501)760-4129 or sbrown@np.edu.
