NPC REVEALS TOP TEN MASCOT SELECTIONS
Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) announced the top 10 mascot selections Friday. The top 10 mascot concepts were selected from more than 160 submissions.
The mascot selection team included representatives from faculty, staff, students and the community. The team looked for concepts that reflected NPC's brand personality, considered the culture and history of both the college and community, could be easily represented in print, online and in college materials, and were accompanied by a name and costume idea. Nearly 50 percent of the total submissions were from students, 23 percent from faculty and staff, 15 percent from community members, and the remainder from alumni and other categories.
The top 10 selections include:
- Nighthawks
- Explorers/Conquistadors
- Lakers
- Mountain Lions
- Thoroughbreds
- Bathers
- Thunderbirds
- Rangers
- Bison
- Bears
Vice President for External Relations, Jeff Weaver said, “Our students are having a great time with this process. Their mascot ideas are creative and humorous. I believe we have a top 10 list that represents our College community. We really hope everyone will engage with us on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook to promote their favorite mascot.” An informal mascot poll is available at www.np.edu/mascot through Tuesday.
The Student Government Association will meet with members of the administration next week to narrow the list to three finalists which will be announced during Spirit Week September 19-22. Voting will be open to the campus September 23-30. The new mascot will be revealed at a pep rally October 26.
