NPC SINGERS HOST FALL CONCERT

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) choral ensemble, the NPC Singers, will host a fall concert at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Tuesday, December 6, at 7 p.m.

The choir will perform "A Wealth of Common Song" and the program will feature folk music from Scotland, Ireland, England and Canada. Local flutist Shelley Martin will be featured on an arrangement of the Irish ballad "Carrickfergus" for choir and flute. Pianist Lowella Cherry will accompany the choir.

Choral Director, Ferris Allen, said, “The second half of the program will feature seasonal music, but very much in the spirit of the first half, including holiday music, some of which will be familiar. All of the music has a timeless aspect to it and belongs to a variety of musical cultures.”

He added, “What makes the songs ‘common,’ besides their heritage in Commonwealth states and former colonies of the British Empire, is how even some of the lesser-known works are tuneful and might very well be welcome additions to different musical traditions.”

Admission is free and open to the public.
