NATIONAL PARK COLLEGE PARTNERS WITH HSSD TO OFFER ADULT EDUCATION SERVICES IN THE JONES ADMINISTRATION BUILDING

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) Adult Education Department has partnered with the Hot Springs School District (HSSD) to offer Adult Education programs at the Jones Administration Building in Hot Springs. The HSSD Board of Directors approved the agreement at their regular monthly meeting on January 19.

Beginning Monday, January 25 programs including GED preparation, English as a second language (ESL) classes and workplace skills training through the W.A.G.E. program will be open to the community.

HSSD Superintendent, Dr. Mike Hernandez shared, “We are very excited about the opportunity to strengthen the bond between our district and National Park College. Hot Springs School District wants to do anything we can to promote a community of education. This new endeavor will allow us to increase our parental involvement efforts by providing local educational opportunities to parents.”

HSSD Superintendent, Dr. Mike Hernandez and NPC Adult Education Director, Bill RitteDr. Hernandez added that HSSD understands the importance of involving parents and the community as a whole in promoting higher student achievement and general good will between the district and those it serves. The district strives to develop and maintain the capacity for meaningful and productive parental and community involvement that will result in partnerships that are mutually beneficial to the school, students, parents, and the community. This new partnership will help our parents be examples to our students as life-long learners and equip them with the tools to aid in their child’s education process.

Adult Education Director, Bill Ritter said, “The Jones Administration Building is conveniently located for a significant number of our students. We are excited to expand access to educational services in an area of the community that can greatly benefit from it and we are proud to partner with HSSD to help strengthen their parental involvement mission.”

National Park College Adult Education operates in five locations to serve residents across Garland County including centers at the NPC campus, Grand Avenue, Arkansas Career Training Institute (ACTI), the Garland County Detention Center, and now at the HSSD Jones Administration Building. Hours may vary at each location. Interested parties are encouraged to call 501-760-4335 for more information or visit www.np.edu/adulted.
