ARKANSAS COMMUNITY COLLEGES HOSTS ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN HOT SPRINGS

Hot Springs, Arkansas – Arkansas Community Colleges (ACC) will host the 28th Annual Conference October 9-11 at the Hot Springs Convention Center. The opening general session begins Sunday, October 9 at 4 p.m. in Horner Hall with a “Going for Gold” theme.

Outstanding faculty and staff honorees from each two- year college will be recognized Monday, October 10 during a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. in Horner Hall. Gray Swoope, President & CEO of VisionFirst Advisors will provide the keynote address. National Park College (NPC) Director of Radiologic Technology, Debra Wilson and Veteran Services Coordinator, Nathan Looper will accept awards for outstanding faculty and staff.

Academic All-Star students and alumni from each two- year college will be recognized during a brunch Tuesday, October 11 at 10 a.m. in Horner Hall. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Maria Markham, Director of the Arkansas Division of Higher Education (ADHE).

NPC alumnus, Jeff Crow, Director of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will accept an award for Outstanding Alumni. Crow has a degree in criminal justice from NPC, a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from John Brown University, and a Master of Public Administration from Arkansas State University. After serving active and reservist duty, he retired from the Marine Corps as a Sergeant Major and as a combat veteran of Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom II. He joined the Arkansas State Police working in highway patrol, criminal investigations, and SWAT. He was a University of Arkansas Criminal Justice instructor and he serves as the Director of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Jeff and his wife, Susanna, have two grown children.

NPC student, Keanna Peck will accept an award for Academic All-Star. Keanna is a first-generation college student and a political science major, whose career goal is to practice law. She balances her studies with employment as a work study for the TRiO department. She is a Student Ambassador and a member of several campus organizations including Phi Theta Kappa and the NPC Cultural Diversity Club.  She is a past participant of ACC’s Student Leadership Academy. She stated, “When I walked through those doors at NPC for the first time, I was determined to reach my goal of graduating, transferring, and having a rewarding career. I am so thankful to everyone for helping me reach my dreams.”
