COMMUNICATION AND ARTS HOSTS SEVENTH ANNUAL POETRY CONTEST

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) Communication and Arts Division hosted the seventh Annual Poetry Contest last week in the NPC Library.

First place winner, Steven Barber and instructor Nanette Crane-PostContest winners are selected anonymously by the English faculty. On average, the contest has about 25 entries each year. This year’s winners included, Steven Barber, first place for his poem,Midline; Ken Cooper, second place for his poem, Katesville Mills; and Steven Joe Echols, third place for his poem, With You.

Communication and Arts Division Chair, Roger Fox said, "We appreciate the student participation each year, and selecting the top three best poems is never an easy task since we have some talented poets on campus."

The Communication and Arts Division also published Reflections of Poetry & Art, a compilation of student works in art and creative writing. The publication was created to encourage art and creative writing students to collaborate on a project. Instructor, Nannette Crane-Post said it was a great way for students to work together on a project in which they will see a finished product.
